Neil + Katie | Flathead Lake, Montana Engagement
Katie and Neil met through teaching at a school in Minneapolis, which is where they are currently living! I was surprised they found me from all the way over there! Neil teaches Chemistry and Katie teaches English. They are both very easy going people and love working with young people as teachers and coaches.
When they initially reached out, they were thinking of getting married in Missoula, Montana because they love the mountains and love to travel (my kind of people)! When they decided to book with me as their engagement and wedding photographer, I was so excited.
They were planning a trip through Montana up to Canada, which had me thinking, this might be a fun opportunity to try a location I had never been to. I decided to have them meet me at a state park on Flathead Lake. I had been there plenty of times...something about the blue colors in the water and the beautiful mountains surrounding the Flathead Lake, with huge cliffs and beautiful trees...sounds fun and romantic, right?!
We met at the Wayfarers/Flathead Lake State Park and it was a HOT summer day (I remember wishing I could just jump in the lake to cool off)! As we walked around the trails and by the lake, I could instantly see the spark that Katie and Neil have. As I worked with them, I observed and soaked up all of the silliness, goofiness and playfulness. As they became more comfortable, their love story unfolded before me. In the moments of silence/calm, you could tell they were truly comfortable with one another, they are each other’s safe place. There is one photo in particular where they are sitting on a bench looking over the lake...in that moment, I really felt the closeness they share.
I can’t wait to be your wedding photographer in a few weeks! Here are some previews :)
